EVENT NOTICE

Additional activity and Changed Traffic Conditions

The annual Sparke Helmore Newcastle City Triathlon is on again, staged from the Queens Wharf precinct. This year the event also hosts an International Paratriathlon. The event promotes fitness and raises awareness and funds for The Lauren Parker Foundation. To facilitate the event, some additional pedestrian activity and also changed traffic conditions will be in place around the following roads. During these times you can expect a large number of cyclists, runners or spectators to be using the roadways.

Sunday 24 Feb - 4am to 1.30pm – As below

    ·Shortland Esplanade (Nobby’s to Zarra St) - 5am - 1.00pm

    ·Shortland Esplanade( Zarra to Watt St) – 5am -12.30pm

    STRICTLY NO PARKING ON SHORTLAND ESPL at these times

·Wharf Road (Nobby’s to Argyle St) - 4am -1.00pm

·York Dr in King Edward Park - 5am -11.00am

·The Terrace closed park side and one way down- 5am-11.00am

·Reserve Rd, Ordnance St, Watt St (south of Church St) - 5am -11.00am

·Wharf Rd Argyle St to Merewether St – 10am-12.30pm

·Merewether, Centenary and Argyle St - 10am.12.30pm

·The event starts at 6.30am at Queen Wharf with the swim leg. Arrival of athletes will occur prior to this. Noise will be kept to a minimum.

Your residence or business is located in the above area. We would appreciate your co-operation and tolerance by refraining from parking or using these roads during this period. We will endeavour to open the roadway to traffic as soon as practical after the event. We have 1000 competitors and expect 3000 spectators to attend the event.
