EVENT NOTICE - Sun 10th Nov 2024
31st annual SPARKE HELMORE NEWCASTLE CITY TRIATHLON
Additional activity and Changed Traffic Conditions
To facilitate the safety of the competitors in, and general public around this event, there will be road and footpath closures and other changed traffic conditions on the following roads/paths. During these times you can expect many cyclists and runners participating in an annual community Triathlon to be using the roadways and footpaths.
SATURDAY 9th November 2024
Horseshoe Beach car park is closed for event infrastructure setup from 5am Sat 09 Nov – 2pm - Sun 10 Nov.
SUNDAY 10th November 2024
5:00am to 12.30pm
·Wharf Rd (east of Watt St) – closed 5.00am – 12.30pm
·Shortland Esplanade (Nobby’s Rd to number 1 Shortland Espl) – closed 5.00am – 12.30pm (note exit possible south at all times. No entry until 12.30pm)
·Shortland Esplanade (Zaara St – Watt St) – OPEN AT ALL TIMES
·Fort Drive – closed 5.00am – 12.30pm (urgent resident exit only via vehicle escort) call
·Nobbys Rd (between Fort Dr and Wharf Rd) – closed 5.00am – 12.30pm. No parking.
·Telford St entry closed from Scott St, residents enter via Stevenson Place. Note this is not part of the course.
- Pedestrain access to Nobbys will be via the harbour side footpath and Tug Berth Rd along Wharf Rd east of Watt St to Horseshoe Beach and the Pilot Station during busy times of the cycle leg event.
PLEASE DO NOT PARK VEHICLES ON THE COURSE DURING THE EVENT AS YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO MOVE YOUR VEHICLE WHILST THE EVENT IS UNDERWAY.
Your residence or business is in the above area. We would appreciate your co-operation and tolerance by refraining from parking or using these roads during this period. We will endeavour to open the roadway to traffic as soon as practical after each event.
